Practices Recognized for Outstanding Use of IT in Patient Care

During the week of October 13th, East Tennessee Medical News (ETMN) presented four regional practices with the second annual TECHMED Award, recognizing their outstanding use of information technology in patient care. This year's award, sponsored by Saratoga Technologies and supporting sponsors Mountain States Health Alliance and Mercy Health Partners, was independently judged by the Northeast Tennessee Technology Council and was divided into two categories: practices with 14 physicians and under and practices with 15 or more physicians.

The 2008 winners in the category of 14 and under were John Lawson Surgical Group in Johnson City and Caring Medical Center in Maynardville. In the category of 15 or more, Holston Medical Group (HMG) in Kingsport and East Tennessee Medical Group (ETMG) in Alcoa received the award.

Each winner received a commemorative trophy recognizing their participation in the contest, and all winners will be offered a face-to-face technology review from Saratoga Technologies, which gives a complete assessment of the practice's technology infrastructure, valued at over $3,500. Saratoga Technologies Named Among BusinessTN Magazine's 2008 HOT 100

Tennessee, (November 5, 2008) – Saratoga Technologies today announced that it has been identified by Business Tennessee magazine (www.businesstn.com), as a 2008 HOT 100 company.

The 2008 list of Tennessee companies that are fast-growing, emerging and brimming with promise.

BusinessTN's Hot100 is our annual look at Tennessee companies on a roll. Fast-growing, emerging or simply full of promise, they represent the best Tennessee has to offer in terms of entreprenuerial vision and growth. From startups getting their financial legs beneath them to more established companies whose mature growth is remarkable, this patchwork of companies—big and small, highly profitable and increasingly profitable, full of dreams or realizing their dreams—is perhaps best described as a list of companies to watch.

Selection is based on numerous factors, ranging from revenue and employee growth to growth over a period of years, growth as compared to industry average, projected growth and projected pitfalls, among other criteria. But the Hot100 also involves editorial judgment. While most of the companies reflected here applied to be considered for the list, many were chosen by BusinessTN staff based on awareness of a company's success or references from knowledgeable sources about area companies performing well.

Among these editorial selections are a handful that don't quite meet the Hot100 requirement that eligible companies generate at least $750,000 in revenue. The promise of near—term growth for these companies, combined with their stories, so fit the list's mission to identify "hot" companies that we made room for a few of them this year.

In sum, the second annual Hot100 spotlights companies that are enriching our local and regional economies, providing jobs and fueling the Volunteer State's entrepreneurial culture. These businesses speak volumes about the value of free enterprise—especially amid today's challenging economic times. They aren't a bad read, either.

NEW YORK, August 20, 2008 – Inc. today ranked Saratoga Technologies (www.saratogaus.com) No. 2,516 on its annual ranking of the 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the country. The list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.

The 5000 companies that made the list reported aggregate revenue of $185 billion and median three-year growth of 147 percent. Most important, the 2008 Inc. 5000 companies were engines of job growth, having created more than 826,033 jobs since those companies were founded. Hottest Regions for Fastest-Growing Companies
The New York metro area tops the Inc. 5000 list with the most companies of any city with 355. Washington, D.C. comes in a close second with 300 companies on the list; Los Angeles comes in third with 244 companies, and Atlanta (194 companies) and Chicago (189 companies) round out the top five. Interestingly, only 62 companies on the Inc. 5000 are not based in metropolitan areas.

Grand Rapids, Mich. leads the list with the highest median revenue of any metro area ($26.2 million, 16 companies), followed by San Antonio, Texas ($21.3 million, 25 companies), Baton Rouge, La. ($18.8 million, 14 companies), Houston ($17.1 million, 97 companies), and Kansas City, Mo.-Kan. ($16.5 million, 39 companies).

Hottest Industries for Fastest-Growing Businesses
The most notable median growth categories among the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing businesses are in the Energy category (which grew by 298%), followed by Government Services (which grew by 220%), Security (200% growth), IT Services and Software (both grew by 187%), and Consulting (which grew by 182% on average).

The largest business category is IT Services, with 579 Inc. 5000 companies. Business Services (532 companies), Construction (459), Manufacturing (405), and Advertising & Marketing (361) complete the top five industries ranked on the 2008 Inc. 5000.

Industries reporting the highest median revenue are Travel ($38.8 million), Financial Services ($16.3 million), Logistics ($15.4 million) Government Services ($14.2 million), and Energy ($14.2 million).

Methodology
The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.

Saratoga Receives 2008 Best of Knoxville Award in Computer Networking

Saratoga Technologies President Named Among The Business Journal 100

Saratoga SVP Allan Walters voted into Tech Data's TechSelect Advisory Council

Las Vegas, NV (May 15, 2008) - Allan Walters, SVP, Saratoga Technologies (3rd from the left) was today voted into Tech Data’s TechSelect Advisory Council. TechSelect's Advisory Council is made up of seven members that act as an advisory panel to $22 billion Tech Data. The AC is an unbiased voice for the general membership and collaborates on ideas with Tech Data and its vendor partners. Members of the council encourage loyalty and growth through Tech Data and they also encourage participation of the general membership in TechSelect initiatives and activities.

Saratoga Nominated for the Employer Support Freedom Award

Johnson City, TN (May 28, 2008) - Saratoga Technologies was today nominated for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The Freedom Award is the Nation's highest recognition given to American employers of National Guard or Reserve members for their exceptional support above the requirements of federal law.

"Saratoga Technologies' nomination for this award demonstrates your employees' appreciation for the exceptional leadership, support and personal devotion you provide to the National Guard and Reserve", said L. Saratoga founder, John Temple, publishes first book: Be successful; be spiritual!

Bournemouth, England (April 24, 2008) - John Temple, Saratoga Technologies Director and Founder, has published his first book titled, "Be successful; be spiritual. How to serve God in the workplace.

Dr. John Temple grew up in South Africa where he obtained a degree in electrical engineering. He obtained a Ph.D. from King's College, London in physics and control theory followed later by an AEP (MBA equivalent) from the University of South Africa. From an engineering and scientific background, he moved into management, progressing to various Director, Managing Director or Chairman positions over a thirty year period. His last full-time job was as Chief Executive of Plessey Corporation, a listed company with offices or subsidiaries in eight countries, including South Africa, the UK, Australia and South East Asia. After retiring from full-time work, he founded Saratoga Technologies with offices in South Africa, the UK and the USA.

Ever since his teenage years, he has been a keen student and teacher of practical theology, endeavoring to reconcile his Christian world view with his daily work. He has held positions of leadership in churches in ministries ranging from youth work to eldership. He currently lives with his wife, Yvonne, in the New Forest in England, now retired but still working.

Saratoga ranked #48 in Accounting Technology Magazine's 2008 national VAR 100 List

Saratoga President, David Temple recognized as a 2008 Leader in Christian Service.

Johnson City, TN, (April 8, 2008) – Milligan College today recognized local leaders who have demonstrated servant leadership in their careers and community at their annual Leaders in Christian Service program at Seeger Chapel.

“The purpose of this program is to provide examples of people who are doing an outstanding job of integrating their faith with their profession,” said Milligan President Donald R. Jeanes. “We see in these individuals wonderful examples of what servant leadership is all about, and what it can look like on a daily basis in a variety of professions.”

Paul Montgomery, vice president for talent management at Eastman Chemical Company, will serve as the keynote speaker for the program.

Montgomery, a graduate of King College, Bristol, Tenn., first joined Eastman in 1991 in the supply and distribution division. A year later he was appointed as a community relations representative for the division. After holding positions of increasing responsibility, he was named director of corporate relations and travel, a position he held until being appointed vice president. Prior to Eastman, Montgomery served as manager of production planning at Texas Instruments.

Jeff Aldridge, Johnson City, serves as an assistant principal at Science Hill High School. He attends First Christian Church in Johnson City.

Bill Darden, Jr., Johnson City, is a senior pharmaceutical consultant with P&G Pharmaceuticals. He attends Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City.

David Howard, Johnson City, serves as the chief financial officer for the Johnson City Power Board. He attends Central Baptist Church in Johnson City.

Patricia Huffman, Johnson City, is the chief financial officer for State of Franklin Savings Bank. She attends First United Methodist Church in Johnson City.

Bobbie Kay Lewis, Elizabethton, serves as a financial analyst for East Tennessee State University's Clemmer College of Education. She attends Gap Creek Christian Church in Elizabethton.

Fred Lewis, Johnson City, serves as the vice president for information technology at Northeast State Technical College. He attends Lone Oak Christian Church in Johnson City.

Sheldon Livesay, Rogersville, serves as executive director of One Accord Ministries. He attends The Bridge Baptist Church in Rogersville.

Danny Matthews, Johnson City, is a vice president with Summers-Taylor. He attends First Christian Church in Johnson City.

Donald Minor, Johnson City, is an HIV/AIDS educator with CVS/Caremark. He attends Clark Street Baptist Church in Johnson City.

Milligan introduced the Leaders in Christian Service program in 2001 to identify examples of individuals from all walks of life who advance the cause of Christ in everything they do. Character, professional and vocational leadership, and church and community service are all considered.
